The term Elder exists in both the Old and New Testaments and often indicates an office of leadership among God’s people. Blue Creek Baptist Church recognizes the Biblical terms Elder, Overseer, Pastor, Presbyter, Bishop and Shepherd to refer to the same office. The fundamental responsibility of the Elders is to devote themselves to prayer and the ministry of the Word.

The Staff Elders (Senior Pastor & Associate Pastor) are responsible for ministry oversight in the Church as godly servant leaders, and the Non-Staff Elders, under the direction of the Senior Pastor, are responsible for administration of the Elder Family Ministry. Under the Elder Family Ministry, every attending member is assigned an Elder who will be available to that family, just like the staff Elders. Each Elder is committed to routinely contacting their families for encouragement and prayer.
